Hip Bath Deluxe Jacuzzi

Hip baths are intended to promote relaxation, improve blood circulation, relieve muscle tension, and assist in the overall elimination of toxins from the body. The baths are performed in warm or cold water. The hip bath has a rich history that dates back thousands of years, and its benefits include refreshing the body and uplifting spirits. Procedure

The temperature of the water may vary depending on the problem for which it is being used. Hip bath Jacuzzi is a kind of full immersion bath where water is pumped with a pressure from profited nozzles in the tub from many directions to create a combined effect of hydrotherapy and massage. The bath is made of fibre reinforced plastic, having 12 hydro jets adjustable for any direction. It is generally 3 feet in width, 3 feet in breadth and 2 feet in height and has an external leg rest stool.

If the patient feels chill or when the climate is very cold or if the patient is very weak, a hot foot bath should be given along with the cold hip bath. The patient should gently rub the abdomen around the navel in clockwise direction with a coarse cloth. This should be continued during the entire period of the bath. It is important that the legs, feet and the upper part of the body should be thoroughly dry and should not get wet during and after the bath. Wear shoes before entering the bath. After the cold hip bath, the patient should undertake moderate exercise like brisk walking, yogasan, suryanamaskar etc. If the patient’s condition is very weak, she/he should lie down in bed covering a blanket.

Based on the temperature of the water used for the hip bath, it can be categorized into four types.

1. Hot Hip Bath

In this therapy, the temperature of the water is regulated between 40˚ and 45˚C. You can start the bath once the water reaches the 40˚ mark. Gradually the temperature is increased to 49˚. This hip bath usually lasts for 8 to 10 minutes. Patients are advised to drink at least one glass of cold water before going for the bath. Also, a cool compress to the head is recommended. A hot hip bath proves beneficial in the following ailments:

  1. Menstrual cramps
  2. Pelvis pain
  3. Pain during urination
  4. Rectum inflammation
  5. Painful piles
  6. Sciatica
  7. Bladder infection
  8. Spondylitis
  9. Prostatitis

2. Cold Hip Bath

In a cold hip bath, the temperature of the water is regulated between 10˚C and 18˚C. Experts recommend that one should take a cold hip bath for about 10 minutes. However, in certain cases the time could be as short as 1 minute or as long as 30 minutes. In case, a person feels too cold or weak during a cold hip bath, hot water is offered to soak the foot. During this bath, with the help of a hand towel, rub below your navel and across the body. After the completion of the cold hip bath, you can bring your body back to the normal temperature with some moderate exercises or yoga. A cold hip bath is helpful for curing conditions like:

  1. Bladder haemorrhage
  2. Stomach and colon dilation
  3. Prostate enlargement
  4. Uterine infections
  5. Irregular menstrual cycles Impotency
  6. Sterility
  7. Paralysis, hysteria and mental problems
  8. Indigestion, constipation and obesity

Combination of hot and cold bath hip bath is helpful for curing digestive problems, inflammation of the lungs and liver, genital diseases, enlargement of the spleen, liver and prostate gland.

3. Neutral Hip Bath

In place of hot or cold water, here the temperature of the water is regulated between 32˚C and 36˚C. This bath can last from 20 minutes to about an hour. Unlike the cold hip bath, rubbing of the abdomen is not recommended in this bath. The conditions that can be relieved by a neutral hip bath include:

  1. Piles
  2. Inflammation and infection of the bladder
  3. Pain in the genitals
  4. Intestinal pain
  5. Inflammation of the uterus, ovaries or fallopian tubes
  6. Vaginal spasms that cause pain
  7. Vulval or anal pruritus
  8. Serious catarrh of the urinary bladder and the urethra

4. Alternate Hip Bath

As the name suggests, in this kind of bath you are expected to alternate between hot and cold bath. In this case, two tubs are prepared, one with water that is regulated at 40˚ to 45˚C and the other with water regulated at 10˚ to 18˚C. During the process, you are first expected to sit down in the hot hip bath for 5 minutes. Then switch to the cold hip bath for 3 minutes.

This should continue for about 10 to 20 minutes. While sitting in the tub, cold compress should be given to the head. The bath should conclude with the hips being splashed with cold water.

The issues that can be relieved with this technique are

  4. Lumbago

Precautions

Hip bath should be taken in an empty stomach. Avoid taking it within three hours after a meal. Women should not take a hip bath during menstruation. Pregnant women can take hip baths only till the completion of the third month.

Avoid cold hip baths if there is back pain. Cold hip baths must be followed by vigorous exercise while other hip baths will need some exercise.
